TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Mobile food pantries provided by Catholic Charities in Terre Haute are helping reach more people in the community.
A mobile food pantry took place Wednesday at Cross Lane Community Church in Terre Haute. Catholic Charities provides mobile food pantries across its seven-county service area. It partners with churches and organizations to hold the events. Development Manager Jessica Murphy said while Catholic Charities Terre Haute’s food bank works as a warehouse, these mobile food pantries bring the food to various locations.
“Aside from the five new mobile pantries that we have here in the city of Terre Haute, we’ve also been expanding into some of our more rural areas as well. So, since September, again like I mentioned, we’ve added mobile pantries in both Parke and Vermilion County as well, and we’re hoping to increase those across our seven-county service area as the year progresses,” said Murphy.
Catholic Charities Terre Haute has an online calendar where people can see when mobile food pantries are scheduled.
