LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — John Daniel is running for Martin County Commissioner out of District 3.
The former police officer says he is out spoken and has always wanted to run for the commissioner seat.
Daniel says there are a lot of issues that concern him including the county’s housing shortage.
But, his biggest concern, is the proposed Midstate’s Corridor project which, if approved, would run through Martin County.
Daniel says that would devastate local communities like his.
He adds, if elected, he would stand up to the state if they were to pressure any of his constituents to sell their land.
“If I get in, I’m going to every home that this corridor is going to go through,” Daniel explains. “Anybody that’s going to be invaded by this, and I say invaded because that’s what it is, a damn invasion. I’m going to get everybody’s name and everybody’s opinion and they’re going to get my name and my card with my phone number on it and, I’m going to tell them then, before I ever take office, if they have any issues, call me. We’ll get to the right place.”
Indiana’s Primary Election will be on Tuesday, May 7.
