SHOALS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Republican Retha Warner is running for Martin County Commissioner out of District 1.
The political newcomer says she’s lived in Martin County her entire life and decided to run to be a voice for the people of her community.
Warner says, if elected, she wants to bring about a positive change that helps grow Martin County to be the best it can be.
She adds her main focus would be on government transparency.
“I feel like the people should know more about the issues that are going on so they have a better say in it,” says Warner. “They do have the meetings, the commissioner’s meetings and the council meetings on Youtube, but a lot of people don’t have access to that. So, if we can get them to come to the meetings and attend them, they’d be able to speak up a little more and know what’s going on.”
Indiana’s Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 7.
